I read the news and listen to my iPod the entire commute to work.

My job is to basically read and write for 8 hours a day (and even when I’m not doing my job, it’s because I’m distracted by reading something else).

At the end of the work day, when I still have some time left but I don’t want to start a new project, I catch up on my all of my blogs.

I read the news and listen to my iPod the entire commute home.

This is my day everyday.

And still, when it comes time for my nightly cigarette/relaxathon by the window after dinner, I bring everything with me: iPod, Blackberry, Kindle, magazines.

So tonight, for some random reason, I left all these things in their various stations of the apartment: my bag, my desk, the coffee table, the bed. I did bring my iPod though .. for John Mayer (mood music, you know how it is) but even that, on the lowest possible volume with no earbuds. Low enough to hear without having to give up the sounds of crickets chirping and my neighbor sneezing up a storm.

Gave my eyes, ears, and brain a glorious ten minute break, and it was the best part of my day.

These make my eyes feel good.

Somebody .. ANYBODY .. buy me that red leather bag.
